Facebook and Microsoft are joining forces to link “Like” data and profile search to Bing. The partnership could give Bing a much-needed boost in social search. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg called Bing the “Underdog” of search engines during a press conference on Wednesday.
Bing users have already received Facebook Instant Personalization. Now Bing users can see what search results in their friends liked through a Facebook Module.
For example, if one of your friends “Likes” a restaurant, movie, product, or service, The data compiled from your Facebook friends will surface on a regular basis in search.
In the future, Bing and Facebook said they plan to include data from your friends along with each search result.
