Consumers can scan QR codes, call friends, browse websites and download applications with their smartphones, which allows them to make more informed decisions concerning the products and services they are interested in buying.

In 2009, world e-commerce sales via mobile totaled $1.2 billion. Sales are expected to rise to $119 billion by 2015.
