AdWords Upgraded URL Deadline is July 1, 2015

Time is running out to transition your URLs to the new, upgraded URLs that Google will be rolling out on their July 1, 2015 deadline. If you are using any kind of tracking information in your destination URL, this is one deadline you do not want to miss.

If you are only using auto tagging, then you do not need to do anything to your account; these URLs will be automatically upgraded. There are some potential pitfalls though; misspelled destination URLs not matching the display URL will prevent the entire account from being upgraded automatically. Please note that this includes ads that have been “paused” and not used for years, but are still present in the account!

If you are not prepared, you could experience some consequences. URLs that are not upgraded will not be able to be changed, will stop serving in a few months, and will create additional work to create new ads with the new upgraded URLs, wasting time and money.
