The Nielsen Company released some interesting statistics today reporting overall online video usage and top online brands ranked by the number video streams for March 2010. The number of unique viewers of online video increased by 1.3 percent, up from 130.1 million unique viewers compared to last years figures. That means there were more than 1.6 million new online video viewers this year.
Nielsen also ranked the top online brands receiving the most viewers in March.
YouTube, the largest onlie video forum, came out on top with 96,075 unique viewers in March followed by Yahoo, at a distant second, with 30,469 unique viewers.
YouTube also streamed more than 4.6 million videos in March to the homes and offices of Internet users. Hulu, the free commercial laden video service owned by NBC, follwed at a distant second with 707,547 million streaming videos.
